Something of Myself
I have been a very busy boy of late. But I have never misplaced my principle driving
force. After all, I am a man who goes with connotations without number, and to irony I am no stanger, although strange. I thank God for the talents with which he imbues me, and for his grace that amazes me every day.
Preach the Word
4:1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
5 As for you, always be sober-minded, (heh) endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
I have devoted some thought to this, so,in other words, I think:
I urge you, Timothy, as we live in the sight of God and of Christ Jesus whose coming in power will judge the living and the dead, to preach the Word of God. Never lose your sense of urgency, in season or out of season. Prove, correct, and encourage, using the utmost patience in your teaching.
For the time is coming when men will not tolerate wholesome teaching. They will want something to tickle their own fancies, and they will collect teachers who will pander to their own desires. They will no longer listen to the truth, but will wander off after man-made fictions. For yourself, stand fast in all that you are doing, meeting whatever suffering this may involve.
Go on steadily preaching the Gospel and carry out to the full the commission that God gave you.
Reading Timothy always causes me to enter into self-reflection.
Where is my life headed? Where am I spiritually?
What do you, dear reader, think of, when you contemplate the divine?
Whatever your faith and understanding,
Peace be with you,
and may God show you his grace.

The epistle of Timothy stirs the heart. It takes us below ground level, plants us, and helps us remember who we are and what mission we have.
